CRACKING OPEN FACEBOOK – MY SHOW ON #TRULONDON #SOURCINGLAB

This is the prezi I have created to help you get my newest top sourcing materials.
I have been fortunate to discover some amazing Facebook search tricks. You will also find a new Google Custom Search Engine (CSE) which x-rays Facebook for fans and likes and comments.
Check it out and let me know your thoughts!
PS. The email piece is definitely amazing. Will it change the whole candidate communication in sourcing?? What do you think?

  1. Cool stuff you have put in your prezi! btw tnx for the gcse 🙂 save’s a lot!
And I do like the approach: just forget the boolean 🙂
    grtz

  2. Thx Gordon – I do believe we should turn our searching mind into a new dimension. As the world turning more into a social and soft-skill/interest/culture fit mode we, sourcers, have to follow this stream, too. This is all exciting!

  3. @Balasz Thanks for sharing this prezi! I’ve tried to send a few emails to people I’m not connected with on Facebook, using their Facebook email, but the messages could not be delivered because the “person you’re trying to reach may only accept emails from people they’re connected to on Facebook”.

    1. Hmmm – probably you are right, Jacco. If someone has chosen to get emails only from friends (or friends of friends) that may block this email feature… that would be too bad! ;-(

  4. And don’t forget the events! It could be a powerfull sourcing tool as well, if you use it in the right way.
The implemented search engine in FB is useless, but try this google x-ray string.
    site:facebook.com inurl:events intitle:android budapest
You can replace the location and the topic. After you found the right events, the only thing you have to do is to write an advert to the stream. Every user who used to choose “join” or “maybe” options, will get a notification about it.
    Enjoy the results! 🙂

  5. Brilliant, Peti, many thanks for sharing with us! I would just only add that you can be more precise on the location by using the “citi, country” phrase in quotes.

  6. Thanks for sharing that – I had heard about event calendars working their way into places pages, but hadn’t quite seen one in the flesh yet.
